Guiding Light
A downloadable game for Windows
[Theme]
For the theme of the game, we wanted to do something scary and dark so we went for the theme of fear. The theme of fear appears in the enemies and in the overall feel of the game. The enemies on this floor represent the fear of being looked at while the boss is the embodiment of that fear. The main villain, who appears in the lose and win screens, embodies the fear of darkness and the labyrinth you walk through represents the fear of the unknown.
[Gameplay/How to Play]
In Guiding Light, you play as a cult member of the Moonlit Torches called the Lantern Keeper. The main villain of the story, The One Who Started it All, put the world outside his temple into an eternal darkness with the sole exception of the moonlight. The Guiding Light is the god of moonlight who wishes to vanquish this dark curse and return the world to it's rightful order. To accomplish this objective, you, as the lantern keeper, are tasked to clear room after room and head deeper into the temple by collecting powerful relics and defeating all enemies in each room.
Hold Left mouse button to charge the lantern flash, release to let out an attack in front of you in a cone.
Spacebar to use your AOE knockback flash, deal damage or enter a new room to recharge the bar (seen on the left of the player)
WASD to move up, left, down and right respectively.
Use your mouse movements to control where you are looking and where your attacks are directed (unless it's the AOE ability).
Objectives appear on the left side of the screen.
Don't let your health go to zero or you lose.
The more enemies you kill, the more score you have at the end.
Two different enemy types with a miniboss at the end room: Ranged and Melee (Miniboss is a mix of both)
Ranged enemies try to keep their distance from you while firing projectiles.
Melee enemies will chase you down at a slower speed than you but are still quick to overwhelm you.
